I am miles away when I paint. My journey does not take me far from home, but as Twyla Tharp says, “Art is the only way to run away without leaving home”.
Painting swaying, rhythmic, colorful wilderness landscapes has been a reoccurring theme for me. Like work by Marc Chagall and Paul Gauguin, I paint with bold colors ,striking patterns and mesmerizing blends, giving the viewer a chance to enjoy the splendors of the woods. Art wakes us up emotionally. It can trigger a feeling that stays with you. As you step into one of my paintings, the distractions of our hectic lives pass away. The process begins with photographing the shapes and patterns that I encounter. Sometimes my perspective is on horseback other times on foot.
