Horses! 30 Paintings 30 Days

12th year and counting in participating in the 30 Paintings 30 Days Challenge. I've been wanting to paint horses for the challenge for a while now and this year seemed like the perfect fit so here goes! All work is for sale. Contact me for purchase inquires. All paintings are $275 during the month of January.

Day 1  "Wandering to the Woods"  11x14,  Acrylic on canvas.

I've been fortunate to have horses in my life for 30 plus years and wandering in the woods or anywhere for that matter is a perfect day. I love the cold blue shadows and tracks the horse and ride make while traveling along.

Day 2, "Bay on a Hill", 12x12, Acrylic on Canvas

I've been photographing horses all year long in anticipation of painting them for the 30 day challenge. Luckily my barn has many beautiful horses to choose from.

Day 3, "That's the Spot", 9x12, Acrylic on canvas.

Horses often groom each other to show affection, care and attention. Mutual grooming strengthens social relationships between horses. It can also have a calming effect on each other  and release endorphins which make them feel good..

Day 4, " Behold a White Horse ", 8 x 10, Acrylic on canvas.

White horses have a special significance in the mythologies of cultures around the world. They are often associated with the sun chariot, with warrior-heroes, with fertility(in both mare and stallion manifestations). or with an end-of-time savior, but other interpretations exist as well.

Day 5, "Boys on the Hill"  11x14, Acrylic on canvas  SOLD

Content with their breakfast and sheltered by the pines these four geldings happily eat.

Day 6, "The Huddle", 12x12, Acrylic on canvas

In the wild, horses live in herds, or family units, that furnish a sense of security and belonging. These horses occupy their days socializing and frolicking together, occasionally determining their dominance hierarchy.

Day 7, "Snow Frolicking" , 9x12, Acrylic on canvas. Do horses like to play? Yes, horses do like to play; it's a natural behavior for them, especially when they are young, and they often engage in play fighting, chasing, running, rolling, and even playing with objects, demonstrating a clear enjoyment of playful activities.

Day 8, "Frisky" 9x12, Acrylic on canvas.

Most riders experience a frisky horse at one time or another. Enough said, ha!

Day 9, "Curly Dreamer", 12x12, Acrylic on canvas

Day 10, "Horse Coats", 9x12, Acrylic on canvas.

A little extra warmth on a cold day.

Day 11,  "Tiny House", 9x12, Acrylic on canvas.

Day 12, "Patiently Waiting", 8x10, Acrylic on canvas.

Day 13, "Dinner is Served" 11x14, Acrylic on canvas.

Day 14, "My Good Side", 9 x 12, Acrylic on canvas.
